Below are a few questioned that were answered in realtion to bed bugs removal.
Is the apartment complex responsible for bed bugs extermination?
I just moved into a new apartment about 2 months ago and have found bed bugs in there. I haven’t been in any hotels, or have had many people over, and my furniture is new so I know the bugs came from the apartment. Is it the apartments responsibly to get rid of them? I learned I am allergenic to the saliva of the bugs and break out in hives, so I cannot even stay there while the bugs are there, would they also need to take $$ off my monthly rent or put me in a hotel. Thanks.
Answer
Legally, you must put your request in writing. The Land lord must then contact an exterminator or do it himself right away. The land lord has no control over how busy the exterminator is, so contacting them right away is all he is legally required to do at this time. The exterminator will make an appointment with you to come out and spray for the bugs.If the Land Lord fails to respond to your written request, then you contact an attorney and file a civil suit against the Land Lord. If the court agrees with you, they can award things like money to stay in a motel until the problem is fixed.

Bed bug problem? Rental property owners denying to pay?
I am living in rental apartment and having bed bug problem. Property owners are not ready to pay any expenses. I wanted to know whose responsibility is to pay for it. they wanted to throw complete 800$ on my head
Answer
Check the tenant/landlord laws for your state. For example, in California, Civil Code Sec. 1941.1 states when a rental unit is inhabitable, and one condition is: (f) Building, grounds, and appurtenances at the time of the commencement of the lease or rental agreement, and all areas under control of the landlord, kept in every part clean, sanitary, and free from all accumulations of debris, filth, rubbish, garbage, rodents, and vermin. You’d need to consult a lawyer (many cities offer legal advice for renters at no cost or for a nominal fee) to see whether this applies, but it may be enough to tell your landlord/management that you will use this as grounds to break your lease. This applies especially if other units are having a bedbug problem, indicating a building-wide infestation. Your case is even stronger if you can show that the bedbugs were there before you moved in. You also want to check if there is anything on your lease about who is responsible for pest removal.
I am a landlord, and an apartment I rented out became infested with bedbugs. I felt that the tenants were to blame because I suspected that they had more people living in the apartment than were on the lease (body heat is what attracts bedbugs). It was difficult for me to confirm it because I am an absentee landlord for that property. I agreed to split the cost, but the tenants said they would take care of it themselves. Their lease ended shortly after the incident and they moved out. Within days of the new tenant moving in, he was complaining about bedbugs. I allowed him to break his lease without penalty, since he had just moved in, and paid for removal of the bedbugs myself.
I found this out too late, but just FYI: If you do not have a severe bedbug problem (i.e., they are just bothering you in your bed), it may be enough for you to seal your mattress. You can use one of the hypoallergenic plastic mattress protectors that wrap around the entire bed, a huge zip-lock type bag, or even a mattress bag you would find in a moving supply store. If the bedbugs can’t get out of the mattress to feed, they will eventually die. If that doesn’t do the trick, you will need professional pest control. Note that spraying alone will not help; you need a professional pest control service that deals with bedbugs. Make sure you have some guarantee that the pest removal will work, and that you get your money back if it doesn’t.

What store can I buy Bed Bug eliminating spray?
My house is full of bed bugs, and as much as I vacuum, they don’t leave. I searched the internet for Bed Bug removal sprays, but I wasn’t able to find any at stores. Does anyone know a good store where I can by some kind of spray/medicine that can get rid of them for good?
Answer
NO NO NO NO DO NOT buy a bed bug spray!!!
It is not going to work unless you spray directly on bed bugs.Wash all your bedding items with HOT HOT water.Use a steam cleaner on the mattress to kill live bed bugs.Apply Bed Bug Powder from the site below.
Put the sheet back on the mattress.
We had the same issue as you are having. We tried sprays, foggers, bombs, and even professional exterminators.
And none of them worked, but bed bug came back after a few weeks.
But after using the powder, we don’t seem to get bitten at all. The powder is natural powder and is safe to humans and pets.
The price is also reasonable, and it is easy to use.
Good luck.

1Check your bed linens in the middle of the night, when bed bugs are most active easiest to locate.Step2See movement? Bed bugs usually travel as groups of two or three in a row.
Step3Look at the insects’ bodies. Immature bed bugs are a light yellow color; adults are a reddish brown. In both cases, the middle part of their bodies will be darker after they have recently fed (they turn darker because they feed on blood).
Step4Not sure based on the color of the insect? Look at their size: bed bugs are smaller than 1/4 of an inch long.Step5Still not entirely certain? Determine whether the bug has wings or not (bed bugs do not); look at its shape (bed bugs are oval and flat in shape).Vacuum

How to Eliminate Bed Bugs
Step1Consult with a professional but know that not any exterminator will do. Sometimes labeled “integrated pest management,” a specialist is strongly recommended to identify and properly eliminate bedbugs. Ensure that you are dealing with bedbugs as some insects look similar.
Step2Compare credentials, fees, contracts, and guarantees with at least one or two other pest control companies. The remaining tips may be used when professional extermination is financially impossible, at your own risk, or in deference with expert pest control recommendations.
Step3Eliminate all trash and clutter in the bedroom and the home to reduce the number of bedbug hiding places. Clean hard surfaces such as furniture, inside drawers, household goods, window casings, and bathrooms. As you clean notice any cracks in the walls or woodwork or other potential points of entry. Make repairs as needed.
Step4Sweep, vacuum and steam clean carpets and furniture thoroughly. Focus on the bedroom and areas where bedbugs are known to reside, but know that eggs or bugs may exist in other areas of the home. Work from the known infestation to highly trafficked areas, baseboards and on to other areas. Diligence here will help eliminate bedbugs more readily.
Step5Make use of the washer and dryer to eliminate bedbugs on clothing, bedding and curtains. Soak items in hot water, optimally at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit, for at least 15 minutes and avoid overcrowding washables.
Step6Wrap exposed items that are not washable in tear-resistant plastic. This includes the mattress and box spring, books, drawer and closet clutter. Leave the plastic on for two weeks and look for any signs of bedbug feces, skins or active bugs. Clean or vacuum suspect items and repeat the process, or opt for disposal. Note that eventually the bedbugs will die when encased and are unable to reach a host to feed on.
Step7Weigh the pros and cons of keeping suspect furniture and household items—disposal may be the only way to eliminate bed bugs or is more economical with regards to time and risk of re-infestation. The mattress and box springs is a primary culprit. If kept, be diligent about checking for tears in plastic coverings.
Step8Consult with a professional exterminator and/or research the resources listed here for information on insecticides designed to eliminate bedbugs. Insecticides both pose health risk and are ineffective at eliminating bedbugs unless properly applied
